Two plots of land allocated for Chinese schools

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2, 2011): The Finance Ministry has approved the allocation of two lots of land for the development of Chinese schools, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek announced today.

In replying to issues of Chinese vernacular education and its development during the party's 58th AGM, Chua said: "The two plots are in Sungai Long and in Kajang Utama, and were previously allocated for national schools."

He said this to rousing applause from some 1,800 delegates who were present.

Chua also said the central leadership of MCA will increase their presence in Sabah.

"Four ministers and seven deputies from MCA will visit Sabah twice a year, so that in any one month, there will be two leaders present in Sabah," he said.

Chua was replying to Chin Wai Sun, a delegate from Kota Marudu, Sabah, who had requested that MCA visit Sabah more often and understand better the culture there.

At a press conference after the AGM, Chua elaborated on the allocation of land for the Chinese schools, saying the issue had long been discussed.

However, there were delays in land allocation due to administrative hiccups.
