In old movies it always looks like the breasts are pointier then they are in new movies, why is this?
edit: I am proud to see what this thread has become, and equally impressed (but not surprised) at how informed reddit is on the subject.
Well, 'pointy' was just the breast shape that was in fashion at the time. Trust me, women have always had breasts of all shapes and sizes - it's just that certain shapes/sizes are portrayed more often in the media when they're in vogue.
For example:
50s - full figure, natural, pin-up boobs
60s - pointy, as people mentioned partly because of bra shape but also, some breasts are just shaped that way. They were the fashionable breast shape to have in the 60s
70s - al natural, teardrop shaped, hippie chick
80s - huge fake tits, generally
90s - smaller, athletic, 'alternative to the 80s racks'
etc
There was an article about it on Playboy.com (can't find it at the moment). Although again, it's good to note that it's not the breasts themselves that are changing en masse from decade to decade, it's just what was popular.
